JULY 2010 CATEGORIES
FR ESH CO R N O N T H E S ID E Think summer and corn from the garden, markets, or
roadside stalls. How do you prepare this fresh vegetable to accompany a main dish? Do you
grill whole ears or cut corn off the cob to use in soups or fritters? Do you put it in a salad with
other veggies and pour over a vinaigrette or creamy dressing? Maybe your specialty is a corn
casserole that features fresh kernels, or a zesty butter spread to slather on steamed or grilled
ears of corn. Send us your best original recipe.
M A IN -D IS H FIS H Tell us how you makefishthe starofameal. Doyou grill orsmoke
it directly over coals, or grill it with veggies and/or seasonings in a foil packet? Poaching,
steaming, frying, baking, and broiling are some waysyou might prepare fish—then serve it
with aflavorful sauce alongside. Other possibilities: rolling up fillets with stuffing, wrappingfish
around vegetables then baking, or serving fried fish in a sandwich, in a taco, orona pizza. Let
your imagination create a distinctively tasty way to serve fish, then send us your recipe.
